What Is Included in the Price of a Custom Suit

A Cardero appointment, fabric swatches and sample books laid across the table
The short version

A custom suit price covers the fitting, the pattern built from your 21 measurements, the cloth you choose, the making, shipping, and alterations. At Cardero the first appointment is free and alterations are included, so the number you see is the number you pay.

When men ask what a custom suit costs, the real question underneath is usually different: what am I actually paying for, and are there surprises later. It is a fair thing to want answered before you book. Here is exactly what the price covers at Cardero, with nothing hidden behind it.

The short answer: the number you are quoted is the number you pay. The fitting, the pattern, the cloth, the making, shipping, and alterations are all part of it.

The Fitting and the Pattern

Everything starts with the appointment. We take 21 measurements and build a pattern from them, so the suit is cut to your body rather than pulled off a rack and pinned. That pattern is kept on file, which is what makes your second and third orders faster. The first appointment is free, and it is where most of the work that makes a suit fit actually happens.

The Cloth You Choose

The largest part of the price is the cloth, and you decide where you land. A wool blend sits at the accessible end, and Super 120 and Super 150 wools cost more because the yarn is finer and the cloth is lighter to wear. None of these is a better suit than another in the way people assume. They are different weights and finishes for different seasons and different budgets. Our guide to made-to-measure suits in BC walks through how the cloth choice changes the feel of the finished suit.

The Making, Shipping, and Alterations

Once the cloth and details are chosen, the suit is made to your pattern and shipped to us at no extra charge. When it arrives we bring you back in, and any adjustments to get it sitting right are included. That last part matters. A suit is not finished when it is sewn, it is finished when it fits, and you are not paying twice to get there.

So What Is Not Included

Very little, and we will always tell you up front. If you want to add a second pair of trousers, a waistcoat, or extra shirts, those are priced separately and clearly. There is no commission on the floor and no pressure to add anything on the day. If you would like to see the ranges before you come in, you can price your build first.

FAQ

Are alterations included in the price of a Cardero suit?

Yes. When your suit arrives we bring you back in, and the adjustments needed to get it sitting correctly are included in the original price. You are not charged a second time to make the suit fit.

Why do some custom suits cost more than others?

The main difference is the cloth. Finer, lighter wools like Super 120 and Super 150 cost more than a wool blend because of the yarn and finish. It is a choice of weight and season for your budget, not a ranking of one suit over another.

Is the first appointment really free?

Yes. The first appointment is free, with no obligation to order. We take your measurements, talk through what you need, and you leave with a clear sense of the cost before you decide anything.

Price your build before you book. Wool blend from $899, Super 120 from $1,299, Super 150 from $1,699. Shipping, the first appointment, and alterations are always included.
