Grooming & Hygiene: Morning Routine
You want to update your style game and create some new habits but where do you start? We have created the simplest rundown that will take you 10-15 minutes every night. See our NIGHT ROUTINE here as well. See our image below and save it. Feel free to post it on your mirror to not miss a step.
In The Morning
1.) DRINK A GLASS OF WATER
Let's be real, you want to drink coffee. Before you have that first cup, down a glass of water, the more ounces the better. The best way to find out how much water you should be drinking is to divide your body weight in half and that is how many ounces of water you should drink per day.
2.) BRUSH, FLOSS & MOUTHWASH
Do not skip this step and create a strong nightly routine with brushing, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash. It will help your breath in the morning, but all three have huge health advantages beyond just a clean mouth.
3.) SHOWER
I shower at night sometimes mainly because I am a nighthawk, much more awake at night. But showering in the morning starts the day off fresh and wakes you up.
4.) WASH YOUR FACE & SHAVE
Both can be done in the shower, the hotter the shower the more your pores will open up which will be great for both shaving and washing your face.
5.) MOISTURIZE
Showering, washing your face and shaving will all need to be accompanied with moisturizing. Not only will it keep your face from having wrinkles but will avoid terrible razor burn, with the right after shave. Moisturizing will keep your face and hands from becoming dry and cracking, all year around, but especially in colder weather.
6.) DO YOUR HAIR
I like to leave this after shaving and moisturizing because your hair needs moisturizing too. Add what is left to your hair and start your routine.
7.) ADD COLOGNE
This is where you can start to find your signature scent but do not overdo it. You should have a hint of cologne, not be overwhelming. Don't be that guy in the elevator who's smell doesn't leave for an hour..
Night Routine
1.) BRUSH YOUR SHOES & SUIT
Your suit and shoes collects a lot of debris during a days wear. Make sure to brush your shoes and lint roller/brush your suit when you take them off when you get home or before you go to bed.
2.) IRON SHIRT & POCKET SQUARE
Start getting your outfit ready for the next day so you can "Wake Up & Go". Iron your dress shirt and pocket square if needed, then set out your shoes, suit and tie for the following day.
3.) PLUCK THOSE HAIRS
Pluck those pesky nose, ear and eyebrow hair. They grow quick and sneak up on you, do a once over in a magnifying mirror before bed to keep them in check.
4.) TRIM YOUR NAILS
Do a quick once over of your finger and toe nails to keep them in shape.
5.) BRUSH, FLOSS & MOUTHWASH
Do not skip this step and create a strong nightly routine with brushing, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash. It will help your breath in the morning, but all three have huge health advantages beyond just a clean mouth.
6.) WASH YOUR FACE & MOISTURIZE
Washing your face removes the oils and can leave your skin dry. Adding moisturizer will keep your face fresh and help avoid wrinkles.
The Rundown
Give this a try and see how different you feel. Your routines will help your circadian rhythm and will help your clothes last longer. We would love to hear how it went after a few weeks!
