Made-to-Measure Suits in BC: A Guide for Men Outside of Vancouver
Search for made-to-measure suits in BC and every result you find points to Vancouver. Brascia, Modello, Sartorial Shop, Surmesur. All of them operate out of Vancouver showrooms that require you to either live near the city or make the trip.
Forty percent of BC’s population lives in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland outside of Vancouver. Most of them have never been pointed toward a made-to-measure option that actually serves where they live.
This is that guide.
What Made-to-Measure Actually Means
Made-to-measure is a specific category of clothing construction. It is not the same as off-the-rack, and it is not the same as bespoke.
Off-the-rack means a garment was built to a standard size and is available for immediate purchase. It may be altered after purchase, but the garment itself was cut for a generic size, not a specific body.
Bespoke means a pattern is drafted from scratch for one person, typically by a master tailor over multiple fittings across several months. It is the highest tier of custom clothing and costs accordingly. True bespoke in Canada typically starts at $4,000 and can run significantly higher.
Made-to-measure sits between the two. An existing pattern is modified to your specific measurements. The garment is built for your body, not adjusted after the fact. You choose the fabric, the design details, and every element of the garment. The result fits and looks like a garment made for you, because it was.
How It Works in Practice
At Cardero, made-to-measure starts with an appointment. The session runs 45 to 90 minutes. It is private, by appointment only, and free with no obligation to order.
The appointment has three parts.
The first is a style profile conversation. We talk through your lifestyle, your professional context, your wardrobe goals, and what occasions you are dressing for. This conversation informs every decision that follows.
The second is the measurement session. We take 21 measurements. These cover every dimension relevant to garment construction: chest, waist, seat, shoulder width, sleeve length, bicep circumference, thigh, inseam, rise, and more. These measurements are stored permanently in your file and updated after every order.
The third is the design session. You choose the fabric, the colour, the lapel style, the lining, the buttons, and any other details you want to include. This is not selecting from a pre-set menu. Every detail is a live conversation.
After the appointment, you receive a written style profile within 24 hours. It covers your colour palette, your wardrobe gaps, and a recommended build order for the next 12 months.
Production takes five to six weeks. For a first order, we typically rush one suit and one shirt ahead of the rest to confirm fit. If anything needs adjusting when the garment arrives, we cover the cost and have it handled locally. Your measurements are updated after every adjustment.
When you re-order, the appointment takes 20 minutes. The turnaround is approximately four weeks.

Who Made-to-Measure Is Right For
Made-to-measure is the right choice for any man who wears a suit more than occasionally and whose body does not fit neatly into off-the-rack sizing.
It is especially suited to men with athletic builds, where the chest-to-waist differential or thigh circumference falls outside standard size proportions. Men at career transition points who need a wardrobe that reflects where they are going rather than where they have been. Grooms and groomsmen who want a garment that fits correctly for the biggest event of the year and can be worn again afterward.
It is not just for executives and grooms. A $899 wool blend suit that fits correctly costs less over five years than a $400 off-the-rack suit that does not and needs replacing sooner.
The Next Step
The first appointment costs nothing. It takes 45 to 90 minutes. You leave with a written style profile that is yours regardless of whether you place an order that day.
