Groomsmen Suits in the Fraser Valley: How to Get the Whole Party Fitted
Getting a wedding party fitted for custom suits across the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland is more straightforward than most grooms expect. The key is understanding how the process works, starting early, and booking the groom’s appointment before anything else.
Why Custom for the Whole Party
The most common wedding party approach is a compromise: the groom gets what he wants and the groomsmen get something that fits approximately.
A rental or off-the-rack suit for groomsmen is sized by chest measurement and adjusted minimally from there. Five men in the same suit model at the same size look like five men in the same suit. They do not look like a coordinated wedding party.
Custom suits for the whole party means five men each wearing a garment built to their individual 21 measurements, in the same fabric and colour. The matching is in the design. The fit is individual. The difference in photographs is significant.
The other practical argument: groomsmen who get a custom suit out of the process have something they will actually wear again. The suit is theirs. Their measurements are on file. Their second order takes 20 minutes.
How the Coordination Works
Start with the groom’s appointment.
At the groom’s appointment, the fabric and colour decisions are made. This is the design foundation for the entire wedding party. Once those decisions are made, every groomsman appointment that follows starts from the same foundation.
Each groomsman then books their own appointment at whichever Cardero studio is most convenient for them. A groomsman in Langley books at the Langley studio. A groomsman in Burnaby books at the Coquitlam studio. The files are shared across all three locations. However, we are always happy to have the guys come in together, however, they should be at staggered times AFTER the initial decisions on the suit and dress shirt colours are made.
At each groomsman’s appointment, the fabric and colour are already decided. The 21 measurements are taken. Individual design preferences within the agreed framework can be accommodated. The garment is built.

What Each Groomsman’s Appointment Looks Like
Each appointment runs 45 to 90 minutes. Private, one-on-one. No commission.
The fabric and colour arrive already decided. The appointment covers the individual measurements (21 of them, stored permanently on file), any individual design preferences within the agreed framework, and the design sign-off.
The groomsman also leaves with a written style profile for their own reference, regardless of whether they order anything beyond the wedding suit. The colour palette and wardrobe gap analysis applies to their personal wardrobe as much as the event.
What It Costs
A wool blend suit starts at $899. Super 120 wool starts at $1,299. Custom dress shirts are $199.
For a wedding party of four groomsmen in wool blend suits: $3,596 across the group for four garments that fit correctly, are owned permanently, and have each man’s measurements on file for future orders.
Compare to four rental suits at $300 each: $1,200 for one day of use across four garments that fit approximately and go back the morning after.
The investment in custom is approximately $2,400 more across the group. Each man leaves with a suit he owns and can wear again. The math changes across anyone who will wear the suit more than a few times.
Payment plans are available through Cardero with bi-weekly or monthly options.
The Timeline
Six months before the wedding: Groom’s appointment. Fabric and colour decided.
Five months before: Groomsmen appointments. All four studios can accommodate different scheduling.
Approximately six weeks before the wedding: All garments delivered. Any adjustments made. Cardero covers the cost of adjustments and has them handled locally.
Two to three weeks before the wedding: All adjustments complete. Each person has worn the suit at least once.
Start with the Groom
Book the groom’s appointment first. Every other appointment follows from the decisions made there.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you coordinate custom suits for a wedding party across the Fraser Valley?
Start with the groom's appointment. The fabric and colour decisions made there become the design foundation for every groomsman appointment that follows. Each groomsman then books their own appointment at whichever Cardero studio is most convenient for them. A groomsman in Langley books at the Langley studio. A groomsman in Coquitlam books at the Coquitlam studio. The files are shared across all three locations.
Does each groomsman need their own appointment?
Yes. Each person in the wedding party is measured individually with 21 measurements. The suit is built to their specific body, not a shared size. The matching is achieved through fabric and colour selection, not through shared sizing. The result is five men each wearing a garment that fits their own body correctly, in the same fabric and colour.
How much does it cost to get a wedding party fitted at Cardero?
A wool blend suit starts at $899 per person. Super 120 wool starts at $1,299. For a wedding party of four groomsmen in wool blend suits, the total across the group is $3,596 for four garments owned permanently with each man's measurements on file. Payment plans are available with bi-weekly or monthly options.
How far in advance should a groom book groomsmen suits in the Fraser Valley?
Book the groom's appointment six months before the wedding. Groomsmen appointments should follow within the next month. Coordinating across multiple men and multiple schedules takes time. Some will book promptly and some will need reminders. Six months out means the last groomsman to book still has enough time to get through the full process comfortably.
What do groomsmen get out of the appointment beyond the wedding suit?
Each groomsman leaves with a written style profile covering their own colour palette, wardrobe gaps, and a recommended build plan for the next 12 months. Their measurements are stored permanently on file. Their next order takes 20 minutes. The suit is theirs to keep and wear again. For men who will have regular professional use for a well-made suit, the wedding is the occasion that starts that wardrobe.
