How Far in Advance Should You Book a Custom Wedding Suit?

May 22, 2026

Most grooms come in around six weeks before the wedding. A few have called the week before, hoping something can be done.

Six weeks puts the process under pressure. It is workable, but it is not where either of us wants to be.

A custom suit is built to your measurements, all 21 of them, from scratch. There is no inventory to pull from. The garment goes through production, quality check, and delivery before it reaches you, and that process alone takes five to six weeks. Add the appointment, the fitting, and any alterations, and the math starts to get tight.

Here is what the right timeline looks like.

The Ideal Window Is Four to Five Months Out

Four to five months before your wedding date is where we like to start.

That gives you time for a proper first appointment without a deadline already closing in. Production moves at its natural pace. The fitting is a chance to confirm the garment feels right and make any adjustments without anyone watching the calendar.

It also gives you time to think. Most men arrive at the first appointment without a clear picture of what they want. The style profile conversation changes that, and when there is time, it goes somewhere better. You leave knowing not just what you built, but why it works for your specific life.

What Happens When You Cut It Close

Anything under eight weeks puts pressure on every part of the process. Under six is a rush situation.

Rush orders can be accommodated and production can be expedited, but tradeoffs come with it: rush fees, a narrower fabric selection, and less room for a second fitting if something needs adjusting.

At four weeks, the fitting has to go right the first time. At three weeks, we are doing everything we can, but it is not the experience either of us wants.

The suit that comes out of a pressured timeline is not the same as one that had room to be built properly.

Wedding Parties Need Even More Time

If you are outfitting a wedding party, add more runway. Groomsmen, a father of the groom, a best man, the math changes when you are coordinating multiple men.

Different schedules, different body types, different availabilities. A group of four to six typically needs ten to twelve weeks minimum, more if anyone is travelling or has limited time for fittings.

This is consistently the piece wedding parties wish they had handled earlier. Book the group before the rest of the details are locked in.

If Your Wedding Is This Summer

Book your appointment this week. The appointment is free and we will give you an honest answer about what is possible, what it takes, and whether we can make your date work.

If your wedding is in the fall or next spring, you have time to do this right. Four to five months out is the window. Use it before it closes.
